Bud Edmondson has won particular fame for his paintings depicting the Southwest. Although he works in many media, watercolor is Bud’s favorite, “It allows me to combine draftsmanship with spontaneity” he says. Bud is a believer in plein aire painting but says his larger works, while conceived on location, are finished in the studio. Bud now devotes full time to painting, but he makes time to teach and give workshops. Since moving to Albuquerque Bud has been honored with Signature membership in the New Mexico Watercolor Society, the Pastel Society of New Mexico and The Western Federation of Societies. In June of 2000, Bud was featured in American Artist Magazine in June of 2003 was the feature artist in the Pastel Journal. Last summer he was featured in the Santa Fe Focus.
